Podmatcher got a bit of a mention via Warren Crosbie's work on social networking. He is doing a thesis on the various aspects of networking technologies and systems. His path lead to me (which was nice) and he recorded the following interview.

Here it is!

We are at about 100 members now, but have hit some bugs... surprise... we'll get through though.

Podmarking

While we won’t stop anyone adding their own podcast to Podmatcher, we suggest that there is power in pointing to Podcasts you like as part of the subject matter of the pod. This acts as a kind of Podmarking system, which you can share with the world or just your groups.

In time we’ll add a tag cloud for users of Podmatcher.

onwards and upwards!!

Quick update on our development efforts folks... The latest update brings some long awaited features such as posting messages to the pod and lot's of fixes. We hope this will enable the pod group to communicate more effectively with members (any member can create a message, although only the podleader can post podcasts). Also, the fonts have been changed (hope it looks better!), the invitation and join emails now contains the correct links back to the pod and signup pages, and searching has been fixed too.

The next update will feature member profiles, RSS feeds for podcasts and messages, better support for venues (and pods that only meet online) and a whole bunch of other stuff; Stay tuned!

And so we've quietly opened up the doors for the beta here at podmatcher. What a journey! Almost a year has passed since I wrote a (very) few lines of code to demonstate the concept to the team. Choosing the undelying technology and platform for Podmatcher was a challenge itself as we wanted something new, fresh and funky to do the job. Sure, PHP would've been a straighforward option, but we decided to give Puakma a go; and it didn't let us down.

We know there's so many features we'd like to add/fix in this beta. Like adding true support for podcasts (although there is the facility to add podcasts now to a pod, it's lacking the RSS feed). We also like to enchance the member pages, add a messaging board for each pod and fix the automatic event email notifications. Oh, and get that feedback forum fixed too!

We're all excited to be here, so please let us know what you think. Well done Team!
